Gandhiji studied at Alfred High School for seven years. It is thus presently named Mohandas Gandhi Vidyalaya after him. This school was established in 1853, and was built by the Nawab of Junagarh, Rajkot, in Gujarat. The premises of this school have been constructed in the Gothic Norman structure. This school has currently been shut down and replaced by a museum.
