Home to Gandhi

"You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty."

Homage to Gandhi

Salutation from one eminent person to another

Gandhi's pre-eminence amongst his peers was matchless. To show their reverence, love and regard, some of the best-known icons from our times have expressed their love through paintings, illustrations, films and statues.

Paintings

Gandhi immortalized by painters as eminent as Jamini Roy and Upendra Maharathi is just examples of the respect Gandhi commanded from his peer in his own lifetime. Satyajit Ray's illustration speaks no less of the same.

Murals

As homage on the occasion of Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra spent days in Bombay perched on the top of Mumbai's famous Churchgate station to paint a larger than life mural of Gandhi stepping off the train. The 3 dimensional illusion created against the huge wall space as if Gandhi were getting actually alighting a train makes Gandhi part of the famous everyday commuter of Mumbai

Films

The famous 'Gandhi" – the film by Richard Attenborough – needs no introduction.
